Objectives and problems The
world Forum on education and training throughout life is organized
by the Lifelong
Learning World Committee with
the assistance of the Center for
the development of information on continuing education (Centre-
Inffo),
The Regional Council of Isle de France, and with other public and private
partners. The
sponsoring Committee, representative of different continents,
consists of international personalities and experts, among whom Jacques DELORS,
President of the international Commission of UNESCO on the education of the 21st
century. The
first objective
of this international event is of to
take stock of
education and training throughout
life, twelve
years after the Delors report of April 1996: “Education, a
treasure is hidden inside”, of advanced
systems of education, learning and trainings throughout
life under
all their forms, and on practical
innovation developed
all over
the world. Education
and training throughout life can be defined
as a “global design of
education which aims at gathering in the same
dynamic process family education, initial formation and all the systems of continuous
training for adults, out-of-schools, professional, general and
cultural”. It includes not only formal education but also non formal and
informal education known as
self-tuition as well as training by action and the vocational and civic
experience. Moreover
, this forum has for ambition to create
an innovating way by federating two
logics :
These
two logics can't be developed separately. In the society of
knowledge, they must develop according to
the
same notion
of universality and progress. They both address the same world
community, in which the person is
one, total and indivisible. The
essential problems are to make of this forum a
lever of development and improvements in education for
each individual at all ages and in all places of life. Indeed, education and training are
peaceful tools to achieve a reduction of
inequalities and equal access to the
knowledge, know-how and knowledge-to be throughout the life for
each person, everywhere in the
world. The
evolution of communication and information technologies should support the
access to poles of multi-media resources and increase the competences of each teacher
and trainer in the world so that nobody is left behind. The
Forum is intended for all the actors
of education and training throughout life: trainers, teachers, researchers,
creators, elected officials, academics, company managers, persons in charge of public administrations, voluntary workers. |
